Study: Dynamic Perspective Stretching Tiled Textures

Unity
Programmatic Image Manipulation
C#, Javascript

About the project

This project is a test project I’m working on with the end goal being something of a “Darkest Dungeon” roguelike but set in space. The first challenging thing I’ve hit as I work on a procedural generator for the side scrolling levels is that I want to tile the floor but also have the perspective of the floor stretch out toward the user. It’s a work in progress.

Personal Project: Perspective

The ability to warp the perspective of tiled backgrounds would come in handy for all sorts of applications. Doing so in Unity presents a good platform to migrate similar Javascript code to a web game or mobile platform environment.

My Task

As I work on a side scrolling personal project I’ve decided I want the “feel” of the art to have a kind of moving diorama effect, where a section of the screen looks like it’s set back into the page. One necessity is going to be the ability to stretch backgrounds and tiled textures according to the current user perspective, so as I gained a decent volume of early art for the game this is the first technical hurdle.
